Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets Prediction
1u - Max Scherzer To Record A Win (-125) (Bet $125 to win $100)
These have been working lately. On the surface level, this is a bet my dog could make, but it’s still a good one nonetheless. The Mets are -250 favorites, and we’re getting this prop for half off of that juice. Scherzer has gone 5+ innings in 13/13 games but has only been credited a win in six games. The Nationals are definitely an easier than normal test for him, and with the trade deadline being one day away, there is a chance we could see some of the bigger names in this Washington lineup moved before the first pitch.
Whether or not we see trades happen, I like this bet regardless. Scherzer has a 2.09 ERA and doesn’t seem to perform any worse on the road. Mad Max has allowed just 7 runs in his last 7 games. It doesn’t take a mathematician to know that is only 1 run per game on average. These Nationals bats have 17 RBIs against him in 161-lifetime at-bats. That would suggest he maybe allows 2 runs tonight if that trend continues. I expect Corbin to allow more than that.
Patrick Corbin is a guy we’ve been picking on for a while, and it’s proven to be profitable. Corbin has allowed 20 runs in his last four games and holds a 6.49 ERA on the season. The Mets do hit righties better but they are no slouches against lefties and should put up runs on the southpaw tonight.
The last time Corbin played the Mets he allowed 7 runs in just over 4 innings of work, that is absolutely abysmal. If Scherzer qualifies for the win and leaves with the lead the Mets also have the superior bullpen in terms of ERA. I’m not going to overthink this. Give me another heavy favorite pitcher to win.
