Chicago Cubs vs. St. Louis Cardinals Prediction
The Chicago Cubs vs. the St. Louis Cardinals will take place at Busch Stadium on Tuesday night for game one of this NL Central affair. The Cubs are likely to play this game without Willson Contreras and possibly a few other team members.
Today is the trade deadline, and Contreras has been one of the hottest names on the market. The Cubs know that they will not be a playoff team this season, and their focus will turn to the future. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, but if Contreras and Happ were in the lineup tonight, I would be shocked.
The Cardinals, on the other side of things, are right in the playoff hunt. They should be active today as a buyer looking for help at multiple positions. The Cardinals were rumored to be in on the Juan Soto sweepstakes, but Soto was just dealt to the Padres. It will be fun to see how the Cardinals go about the deadline today. They are right in the hunt to be a playoff team, currently sitting one game behind the Phillies in the wildcard race.
This is one of the best lineups in baseball when they are on, and they will look to put that on display tonight in front of their home crowd. The Cardinals will send veteran Adam Wainwright to the mound. Opposing him will be Keegan Thompson, who gets the call for the Cubs.

I am backing the Cardinals tonight on the -1 line. I am shocked we are getting a line this good for this game. The Cubs will likely be without multiple players tonight due to the trade deadline. Like I said earlier, Willson and Happ should not be in the lineup tonight for the Cubs.
These are two of the hottest names to be traded, and by the actions of Contreras and Happ on Sunday night, it was their last game as a Cub. The Cardinals need these games as they look to make a playoff run, and they have their ace on the mound tonight. This should be an easy winner for us tonight!
