ANALYSIS

San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Odds, Picks, Prediction: Can Julio Urias, Dodgers Dominate?

Before yesterday's game, the Giants made a couple of questionable decisions. They elected to hold onto Carlos Rodon and Joc Pederson, while the team was still under .500 with a small chance of making the postseason.

The Giants still believe they can compete with their roster. While their roster looks good on paper, it's certainly not performing to expectations after the Giants ended up losing another game to the Los Angeles Dodgers. That's six straight in the second half of the season.

Will the Giants finally figure out the Dodgers in the second half? Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Wednesday's game between the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants.

Giants vs. Dodgers Line Movement

San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction

The Giants are probably tired of left-handed pitchers now. The Giants have struggled against lefties in the second half of the season, after having plenty of success earlier in the season. Tonight, the Dodgers will pitch Julio Urias, who will likely have San Francisco's number again.

Urias has a 10-6 record with a 2.71 ERA on the season. In the last 30 days, however, Urias has had a 4.38 xFIP along with 25% of strikeouts and 3.7% of walks.

The Giants are still hitting a .210 ISO with a wOBA of .357 against lefties in the last 30 days. However, this projected lineup has struck out 25% of the time in those last 30 days.

When the Giants make contact, good things happen. They've hit 25.4% of line drives while limiting grounders to 35.6% against lefties. But again, the major problem is that the Giants struggle to put the ball in play and have very high strikeout numbers.

The Giants will send out Alex Cobb for tonight's game. He’s 3-5 with a 4.06 ERA but has actually been better in the last 30 days. He has a 3.17 xFIP in the last 30 days along with 22.5% of strikeouts and has allowed just 6.2% of walks. He’s also induced over 62% of ground balls in the last month of baseball.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers are hitting a .177 ISO and wOBA of .338 against righties in the last 30 days. That's not anything to rave about, but Los Angeles has also struck out just 16.8% of the time with their projected lineup against righties. On top of that, they're getting nearly 11% of walks against righties.

The middle of the lineup has produced against righties between Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, and Gavin Lux. Freeman is hitting a .284 ISO and wOBA of .469 and will be the main contributor for this Dodgers offense tonight.

Cobb has better numbers analytically than Urias. However, the Giants' projected lineup will end up striking out more while the Dodgers will end up working counts to get on base at a higher rate.

The Dodgers will create more havoc on the base paths. For that reason, I like the Dodgers to come out on top. I'll take the Dodgers on the moneyline.
