Kansas City Royals vs Boston Red Sox Prediction

The Royals showed their hand as sellers at the deadline when they dealt Whit Merrifield to the Blue Jays for prospects. The team has also traded Andrew Benintendi to the Yankees and Carlos Santa to the Mariners.

The bottom line here is that the Royals are playing for the future, and they should have some good prospects now moving forward. One piece that we know for a fact will be good moving forward is shortstop. Bobby Witt Jr. Witt Jr is regarded as one of the best young players in baseball, and he has shown why this season. He has all the tools in a player you could want, and it looks like he will be a guy that the team can build around.

The Red Sox played the role of both buyers and sellers at the trade deadline. The team dealt catcher Christian Vazquez while adding veterans Eric Hosmer and Tommy Pham to the team. The Sox are still right in the hunt in the American League Wildcard, and it appears they will be going for it for the next two months. Tonight Nick Pivetta toes the rubber for the Sox, being opposed by Kris Bubic.

I am all over the Sox today and want to get this in before the line continues to jump. Let’s face it the Royals have nothing to play for at this point in the season, and their lineup is one of the worst in baseball. They have moved on from three of their best players and are giving a lot of young guys chances to play. Kansas City could care less about their results right now. They just want to see who can play for the future.

The Sox, on the other side of things, are fighting for a playoff position. They looked much better in the series against Houston, winning two of three, and I expect them to continue to play good baseball tonight. Pivetta is coming off a solid start that should give him confidence facing this Roayls lineup tonight. Bubic has been brutal this season, coming in with a record of 2-6 and an era of 5.45.
