Cardinals vs Cubs Line Movement

St. Louis Cardinals vs Chicago Cubs Prediction

The Cubs surprised a lot of people at the deadline after not trading catcher Wilson Contreas and center fielder Ian Happ. These two looked very emotional after their game Sunday night, and many thought both of these guys would not be on the team come the new week. Here we are, however, and we will see what happens in the off-season with Contreas.

St. Louis was aggressive at the deadline addressing their biggest need which is starting pitching. The team added the man getting the ball to Jose Quintana. Quintana, who is a former Cub, has had a great year so far. He pitched on the Pirates, a team who has not been competitive all year long but now gets a chance with a team like the Cardinals to go make a playoff run. St. Louis sits 0.5 games back of the final wildcard spot entering tonight’s ball game.

I am backing St Louis tonight on the -1 line. They were good to us earlier in the week and will be good to us again tonight. I actually think the Cubs will win game one, and we will see St. Louis respond in a positive way in the second game.

There is a huge pitching advantage tonight for the red birds. Quintana has been outstanding this year and will look to impress in his first start for St. Louis. This is a limited Cubs lineup that will likely not have Wilson Contreas in it because he caught game one. There is a chance he gets the call as DH, but I was surprised after catching game one. Sean Newcomb will start for the Cubs, and he has been a gas can this year. He enters play with an era of 11.57. This Cardinals team should be able to get to him and put runs on the board. I love this spot for St. Louis tonight!
