The Cubs are coming off a pair of losses yesterday in a doubleheader against the St Louis Cardinals. The Marlins had an off day yesterday and will look to get on track with a win this afternoon. The great thing for us gamblers is the fact that the Cubs play at home on Friday.
It is a tradition in Wrigleyville that when the Cubs play on Friday, it is always an afternoon game. The Cubs have had a tough season but surprised the league when they held onto long-time catcher Wilson Contreras. It appeared by the emotions of Contreras he would be traded, but here we are, and he is still in a Cubbies uniform. He will be in the lineup again today after having a great couple of games yesterday. He is the heart and soul of this team, and it will be interesting to see what happens with him in the off-season.
The Marlins entered the all-star break with a chance of making the playoffs via the wildcard, but things have gone south as of late. This has become one of the worst offenses in all of baseball, which is not allowing them to win games. Miami now enters play nine games out of a playoff spot.
I will be backing the Cubs on the money line today. Justin Steele has been very good for the Cubs this year, and now he will be facing one of the worst offenses in baseball. The Marlins simply can not score runs at the moment, and I will continue to fade them with confidence until they can prove they can score.
