ANALYSIS

Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres Prediction: Should You Ride Mookie Betts and the Dodgers?

Our second round of action this evening will also be in the National League and we are heading to the west coast for what I think is the other marquee matchup of the evening as the San Diego Padres are in Los Angels to take on the Dodgers. I think there will be a lot of action on this one on both sides and I understand the reasoning for both but I only see it one way personally and here is what I got. Let's dive into my prediction, pick, and odds for the Dodgers vs. Padres.

Dodgers vs Rays Line Movement

Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres Prediction

I understand San Diego just got a major boost and I acknowledged it already; I sent out a tweet about how truly lethal this lineup looks and I think they do a lot of damage here down the stretch. With that said, I still think the Dodgers are hands down the best team in the National League and the team to beat.

The Padres did nothing to make their pitching anywhere near as good as what the Dodgers have. Yes, the lineup is now definitely comparable in regard to star power and talent but the Dodgers have always been there. It is not new for them to be loaded like the Padres now are (although they are still shorthanded with Fernando Tatis Jr. sidelined) and the thing is they still tend to win without top guys in the lineup when they need to do so. That is not currently the case though and they are healthy and ready to go tonight.

The pitching matchup does the Padres no favors here either. They have to take on Tony Gonsolin who has been electric this season and looks like a true Cy Young candidate. He is 12-1 with a 2.41 ERA and sub-one 0.90 WHIP. He has done well against the Padres before and should be able to keep them quiet enough but even if he can't the Dodgers can Maul Sean Manea.

They can kill just about any arm you put out there but they excel against southpaws and especially those named Sean Manea. In 75 PA thus far they are sporting a .290 BA and .425 wOBA but the expected slash line tonight is even stronger than that at .337/.475/.725 and I love that. I am keeping things simple and backing the best team in baseball to continue their success against the Friars.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres Pick
