I know what some of you thinking, how many times am I gonna bet on a game involving Detroit? When I bet against them they are the best team in the world and when I bet on them they look like my little cousin's teeball team. I’m not a believer in banned lists or curses, I see value here and we’re going to take it. The Tigers hit lefties significantly better than righties but McClanahan is a different breed of pitcher. He already displayed that he can own Detroit this year. In mid-May, we saw McClanahan go seven innings and only allow one run on four hits.

This is going to sound weird but I like that Shane got roughed up in his last start against Cleveland, that makes me think he’ll bounce back because we’ve yet to see him struggle in two straight starts. McClanahan has just north of a two ERA and on the road, he holds a 1.62 ERA over seven starts. There may not be a more pitcher-friendly park than Comerica. The only way a pitcher would feel safer would be if he was at Polo Grounds. McClanahan should deal and all I’m worried about is his run support.
I bet against Garrett Hill one time and he made me pay, I’m doing it again. The one good start he had was his opening start in the MLB and now teams seemed to have figured him out. He has allowed 16 runs in his last 20 innings and has allowed 3+ runs in 4/5 starts. The Rays' offense won’t instill any fear into too many people but it scores more runs than Detroits. The Rays have the batting advantage and the starting pitching advantage today. The only area that Detroit is better in and that’s slightly in the bullpen, I’m hoping the Rays hold a multiple-run lead late in this one for that not to matter too much. Shane is a guy I always wanna back on the mound, please demolish my hometown team I wouldn’t even mind.
