The Dodgers beat up on the Padres in game one and flexed their muscle. The Dodgers wanted to remind everyone that they are still the best team in the National League. The Dodgers dropped four early runs in the first inning and never looked back in the game.
The Padres have been blown out in their last two games after a nice win streak. The Padres will look to get back on track tonight, and they will send one of their better arms to the mound tonight. Mike Clevinger will toe the rubber for the Padres, looking to shut down one of the best lineups in all of baseball. The Dodgers have had the Padres' number this season, so Clevinger will look to change that narrative. The Dodgers will send southpaw Andrew Heaney to the bump tonight. Heaney has been outstanding for the Dodgers this year but has had to deal with injuries that have limited his usage.
I am backing the Padres on the run line tonight. We are getting the better arm in Clevinger tonight, and I will take advantage of that with the Padres as dogs here. I would sprinkle the money line as well, but I am going to play it safe here with the run line. The Padres' offense was shut down the last two games, and they are simply too good not to get going. Heaney has been great this year, but this is a guy I believe is due to regress as the season goes on. I will trust San Diego tonight on the run line.
