Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres Prediction
The Padres are going to be sending Yu Darvish to the mound for tonight's game. The right-hander is 10-4 with a 3.30 ERA on the season.
The Padres aren't desperate for a win. But they're kind of desperate if you know what I mean. Darvish has had a 3.63 xFIP in the last 30 days, with 31.3% of strikeouts. He’s also limited walks to 6%. Against righties, Darvish has been worse, allowing a .335 wOBA and ISO of .200 in his last 53 plate appearances against them. But he's been very under the radar this season for the Padres and has pitched very well throughout the season.
On the flip side, the Dodgers have hit righties well. smacking a .210 ISO with a wOBA of .357 in the last 30 days. In the projected lineup, the Dodgers have six lefties. Usually, that's not a good sign for righties. However, Darvish, as I mentioned above, has struggled more against righties. Instead, he’ll worry about the three righties in the lineup between Mookie Betts, Trea Turner, and Will Smith.
No one in the Dodgers lineup is easy to get out, but Darvish's numbers should play out well against this Los Angeles lineup.

The Dodgers, meanwhile, will pitch lefty Tyler Anderson for tonight's game. Anderson is currently 12-1 with a 2.89 ERA on the year. Let's be honest, Anderson was an average pitcher before heading over to Los Angeles. Now he’s 12-1 on the season with an ERA below 3. But things are starting to unravel for Anderson a bit.
Anderson currently has a 5.01 xFIP in the last 30 days with just 17.5% of strikeouts. He's only benefited from being able to still limit wOBA and ISO numbers to both sides of the plate in the last 30 days.
Anyway, the Padres are hitting an ISO of .193 with a wOBA of .369 against lefties in the last 30 days. Those new key pieces like Juan Soto, Josh Bell, and Brandon Drury have hit lefties extremely well throughout the season and in the last 30 days.
This Padres lineu[p has also walked 12.9% of the time against lefties in the last 30 days and has hit 27.2% of line drives when balls are batted into play.
The Padres have the much better matchup against Anderson. While Anderson has limited power recently, the Padres should be able to put the ball in play more, hit more line drives, and overall just have more opportunity of scoring in this game.
I'm taking the Padres to salvage the series with a win.
