Cincinnati Reds vs. Chicago Cubs Prediction

The best thing about this game is it makes a fantasy a reality. Field of Dreams is one of the best sports movies ever and to be able to watch a Major League Baseball game on a field made for Field of Dreams is awesome as a baseball fan.

What is also awesome is the fact that we can gamble on it tonight. The Cubs and the Reds will both not be playoff teams this season. These are teams that have blown up their core in the last few seasons and are playing for the future. The Cubs have some promising young players along with the Reds.

The Reds were in full seller mode at the deadline while the Cubs held onto a couple of guys that everyone thought would be traded. One of those guys was the Cubs' backstop Wilson Contreas. Contreas is one of the most loved Cubs players in the team's history, and it appeared by his emotions he would be traded at the deadline. He was not traded, however, and will be a free agent in the off-season. He remains the Cubs' best player.

I will be backing the Reds on the money line. I really like the Reds starting pitcher tonight, Nick Lodolo. Lodolo is just 24 years of age but has a high ceiling. He is 3-3 with an ERA of 4.40 this season. I believe he is much better than his numbers indicate and should be able to handle this Cubs lineup tonight.

Drew Smyly gets the rock for the Cubs, and he has been up and down this season. He comes in with a record of 4-6 and a 3.97 ERA. I trust that the Reds can get to him tonight and put up some runs. This Reds lineup still has veteran bats that can deliver and should be ready to go on the national stage tonight.
