The Twins have gone cold as of late after a rough series against the Dodgers. The Twins still have a great chance at making the postseason sitting just 0.5 games out of the lead. Coming into the year, very few people thought that this team would be able to compete for the playoffs, but they have proved a lot of people wrong so far this season.
The Twins have been one of the best lineups in all of baseball, ranking eleventh in baseball in runs scored per game with 4.51. When they are healthy, they have one of the best lineups in the game. The issue for the Twins has been the consistency with pitching. They were aggressive at the deadline landing one of the most sought-after arms in Tyler Mahle. Mahle has had a solid season and was brought in to help this Twins team go on a run.
Personally, I have had great success betting on Mahle when he was a part of the Reds and in his first start in Minnesota. For the Angels, it has been a nightmare season that they are excited to see an end soon. They have had to deal with injuries all season long, as well as the firing of head coach Joe Maddon. You could not script up a worse season for the Angels. Tonight they will send Patrick Sandoval to the bump. He has been solid this season with an era of 3:41 but a record of just 3-7.
I love the Twins to bounce back tonight after a tough series against the Dodgers. They did not really have a true travel day as they stay in LA and should be fresh for this game tonight. Minnesota is playing for everything right now while the Angels are booking vacations for the off-season. The intensity levels should be different tonight.
I will not overcomplicate this. The Angels are one of the worst offenses in baseball. Mike Trout has been out of the lineup and this is a team that ranks twenty-fifth in the MLB in runs scored per game. They average just 3.88 runs.
