It hasn't been a great season for the San Francisco Giants. Expectations were high and now they're just 54-57 on the season. However, they'll get a home series against the Pittsburgh Pirates to potentially get back to .500 on the season.

The Pirates are currently just 45-67 on the season and are not going anywhere this season. Can the Giants get hot in middle August? Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Friday's game between the Pittsburgh Pirates vs. San Francisco Giants.

Giants vs. Pirates Line Movement

San Francisco Giants vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction

Carlos Rodon will get another start for the Giants tonight. He's 10-6 with a 2.95 ERA on the season. In the last 30 days, he's also been just as dominant, holding a 3.99 xFIP with 31.9% of strikeouts and just 6% of walks.

Meanwhile, it's been a dreadful season for the Pittsburgh Pirates at the plate. The Pirates are hitting a .132 ISO with a wOBA of .267 against lefties in the last 30 days using their projected lineup. On top of that, the Pirates are striking out 26.7% of the time in the last 30 days while only earning 6.6% of walks.

Rodon matches up well against this Pirates lineup. Only Bryan Reynolds are been real consistent against lefties in the last 30 days, with a wOBA of .390. But the thing is, Reynolds only has four plate appearances against lefties in the last 30 days. He was injured for a solid portion of the last 30 days.

Rodon has allowed some power to lefties in the last 30 days. Only ONeil Cruz has legitimate potential to go deep against Rodon.

On the flip side, Bryse Wilson will get the call for the Pirates. He's 2-6 with a 5.86 ERA on the season. While he's been better analytically, Wilson still isn't the better pitcher on the mound tonight.

Wilson has an xFIP of 4.63 with 15% of strikeouts earned in the last 30 days. He's given up 53.8% of hard contact and continues to allow a high amount of extra-base hits to lefties and righties. Lefties are getting on base more and the Giants figure to have seven lefties in the lineup against Wilson.

Clearly, the Giants have the advantage. With their lineup, the Giants are hitting just a .124 ISO with a wOBA of .282. However, the Giants have minimized strikeouts and have earned 8% of walks against righties in the last 30 days with their projected lineup.

Therefore, the Giants should easily get by against Wilson, who has struggled throughout the season. Give me the Giants on the run line. They're going to win this game by multiple runs.
