Cardinals vs. Brewers Line Movement

St Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers Prediction

1u - Cardinals -0.5 First 5 Innings (-110) (Bet $110 to win $100)

*Odds Available at BetMGM*

We have a simple bet. Let's just have the lead after 5 innings. Jordan Montgomery will be pitching his second game as a Cardinal after looking dominant against his old Yankee pals. I think Montgomery is a good pitcher who New York will regret moving but time will tell. Tonight he gets Milwaukee who hit lefties at a .221 clip. These bats don’t have too much history versus Montgomery but that should play in favor of the pitcher.

The real main appeal here is the Cardinals against a lefty. St Louis bats .270 against left-handed pitching and find themselves against Eric Lauer. The last time Lauer went up against the Cards he allowed 5 runs in 6 innings of work. If St Louis can even closely resemble that performance this should be a winner. Lauer has been pitching well as of late but hasn’t played a team that crushes lefties quite like this ball club, this is the true test.

The Cardinals are -170 favorites for a reason and with these teams having very similar ranking bullpens I think the Cards get an early lead and don’t look back. We have the upside of winning this bet even if Lauer improves upon his last performance and we see Montgomery do what he did against his old team. We could end the 5th inning with a 1-0 lead and I will be just as happy as any other method of winning, everyone should be able to tail this so there’s no pivot I’ll recommend.
