ANALYSIS

MLB Picks Today: Cincinnati Reds vs. Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners

It's Saturday which means we need to be gambling. I get that the NFL is back but MLB is still hanging around too. Since that's the case, we should probably bet on it. We've got tons of options so what I wanted to do is the old, "take two plus moneylines" and hope to hit one for the profit. Obviously, we want both to hit and both will, I'm just saying that it makes me feel like a real grinder when I split. Like I just did something gritty. Primal even. Lucky for us, there are multiple guys with (+) signs by their names today so we have options. After going through all of them, I found two that absolutely have no chance of losing. Like 0.0%. Those are my favorite kind.

Adrian Sampson Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+128) (Bet $100 to Win $128)

*Odds Available at FanDuel*

This one is hanging at FanDuel but if you have to go to DraftKings, they have 4.5 (+115) which isn't terrible. Obviously, it's not +128 but it is what it is. It definitely beats BetMGM because they are showing 4.5 (+105). You have to respect the respect they have for our guy Sampson. We're talking about a former Circle of Trust member here. As always, look into FanDuel's ladder options especially since it's Saturday and losses don't even count.

This one is more about the Cincinnati Reds than it is about Sampson. He's only done this four times this season and one wasn't even in a start so that's bad. The thing is, the Reds have struck out 113 times in their last 396 at-bats. They've got nine guys that could be in the lineup that have all whiffed in 25+% of their at-bats over the past two weeks. Sampson has a real chance against a team like this. I'll go as far as saying the only thing that stops this thing from going over is the fact that Adrian Johnson is calling balls and strikes in this one. He's blind as a bat but I still think Sampson gets home.

Marco Gonzales Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+132) (Bet $100 to Win $132)

*Odds Available at FanDuel*

We're at FanDuel again for this one since they've got the best number but the other guys are all pretty competitive. For instance, DraftKings has 4.5 (+130). BetMGM is hanging 4.5 (+125) so if you have to play at either of those two books, you're good. Still, I prefer FanDuel here since they have the ladder options. It's Saturday. We should act like it. Why only go 4.5 (+132) when you can go 6+ (+290) like a god? It just makes sense.

Again, this one is more about the other team than our pitcher. Sure Gonzales has fanned at least five guys in each of his last three starts (NBD) but he's still not a "strikeout guy". The thing is, the Rangers are a strikeout team at this point. We're talking 132 strikeouts in their last 432 at bats which is awful. Gonzales has seen most of these guys too since he's thrown against Texas four times this season. He sat five guys down in three of those starts and the time he missed he went for four Ks. This feels easy.
