The Milwaukee Brewers face the St Louis Cardinals on Saturday night battling it out for game two of this pivotal NL Central matchup. The Cardinals have been on a tear as of late, leapfrogging the Brewers and taking over first place in the Central. The Cardinals won the game last night to push their lead to 1.5 games in the Central and will look to build on that tonight.
This is a Cardinal team that has a top-notch offense, but the pitching has been spotty at times. They landed a pair of veteran southpaws at the deadline to bolster their rotation and now appear to be a legitimate threat out of the National League.
The Brewers have had a tough August so far, losing series against the Reds and Pirates. They were able to win a couple of games against the Rays, but their offense looked lost last night. Things may not get easier tonight as they face veteran Adam Wainwright. Waino has been great this year and is a guy that seems to get better as his career goes on.
The Brewers will be sending their best arm to the mound as Corbin Burnes toes the rubber for the Brew Crew. Burnes is the reigning Cy Young award winner, and they will need him to step up tonight and lead them to a much-needed game two victory.
I am backing the Brewers tonight and trusting the better arm in Burnes. This is a massive game, and I expect him to be locked in tonight and dominate this Cardinals lineup. These are the kinds of games that these top-notch pitchers live for. Wainwright has been really good this year, and it is rare that I will fade him, but tonight, I think the Brewers could give him some issues. I expect Wainwright to give up a few runs, which could be the difference with Burnes on the bump for the Brewers. Let’s stay hot and cash this tonight!
