After an exciting win on Saturday night, the New York Yankees might be getting back on track. Jason Radowitz has you covered between this AL East showdown between the Yankees and Red Sox.
ANALYSIS

Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees Prediction, Picks, Odds: Will the Yankees Earn the Series Win on the Road?

The New York Yankees escaped with a 3-2 win over the Boston Red Sox in a thriller. The Yankees have been struggling since the All-Star break but are hoping the win on Saturday night will help them get back on track.

New York is currently 72-42 despite a weird stretch of baseball. Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox are 56-59 on the season and still (kind of) battling for an AL Wild Card spot.

This game is pretty meaningful for both teams at this point. The Yankees need to get back on track while the Red Sox can't afford many more losses.

Who will win the final game of the rivalry series? Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Sunday's game between the Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees.

Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees Prediction

The Yankees will be sending out Jameson Taillon for tonight's finale. He's 11-2 with a 3.95 ERA on the season.

However, his analytics tell a different story. In the last 30 days, Taillon has had a 4.99 xFIP while walking 11.3% of batters. He's given up an ISO of .214 to lefties and a .189 ISO to righties but still has a BABIP of .161 in the last 30 days.

That BABIP is bound to change in Taillon's next couple of starts.

He's taking on a Red Sox lineup that has a .159 ISO and wOBA of .290 against righties in the last 30 days. However, I will say this, the Red Sox have four players in their projected lineup hitting an elevated ISO number against righties in the last 30 days. Boston will have some potential in this game, however, line drives have been hard to come by against Taillon in the last 30 days.

On the flip side, it'll be Michael Wacha for the Red Sox. Wacha is returning from injury. This season, he was 6-1 with a 2.69 ERA before falling onto the Injured List.

Still, on the season, Wacha had a 4.91 xFIP with just 17.6% of strikeouts. He wasn't that great analytically either. Wacha induced just 41.2% of ground balls and allowed nearly 23% of line drives.

However, he was able to limit extra-base hits and kept walks to 7.7%. That helped him keep runs off the board.

He'll take on a Yankees lineup that has struggled recently, hitting a .164 ISO with a wOBA of .325 in the last 30 days against righties. New York has struck out just 20.6% of the time against righties in that time frame using their projected lineup while walking 9.9 percent of the time.

They're capable of getting runners on and scoring runs.

At this point, we're getting two pitchers that have probably performed better this season than they should've. Wacha likely won't go deep in this game and Taillon will probably regress a bit and allow a couple of solid extra-base hits.

I'm siding with the over for tonight's rivalry matchup.
