New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays Prediction

The Tampa Bay Rays battle the New York Yankees taking place from the Bronx on Tuesday night for game two of their AL East matchup. The Yankees were shut out for the second consecutive game last night when they lost 4-0 to kick off the series. Yankees fans are starting to get concerned at how poorly this team has played as of late. They have been playing without All-Star Giancarlo Stanton, and recently, slugger Matt Carpenter hit the IL.

The Yankees still have a comfortable lead in the AL East and will certainly be a playoff team despite their cold run as of late. The last thing that they want is to cool off as the month of September approaches.

The Rays will be in a playoff battle for the next two months or so. This is a solid team that has had to deal with a lot of injuries, especially to some of their best hitters. Most notably, Wander Franco has struggled to stay healthy this season. Despite that, they are currently holding the second spot in the Wild Card. They sit just 0.5 games out of the first playoff spot.

Tonight the Yankees will send southpaw Nestor Cortes to the bump. Cortes was a first-time All-Star this season and will look to end the Yankees cold streak with a win tonight. The Rays will send Jeffery Springs to the mound looking to get the Rays a big road win. 

I am backing the Yankees on the -1 line today. I know they have been cold as of late, but we have been profitable on them during this stretch picking good bounce-back spots. Their offense has been shut out the last two games, so I expect some positive results tonight as they are too good of a lineup to be shut out three straight games.

The Rays do not scare me swinging the bats, and despite coming through for me last night with a win, I think they struggle to score runs against Cortes and this Yankees bullpen today. A lot of people will be fading the Yankees right now, but I will trust them to bounce back in this spot at home tonight.
