St. Louis Cardinals vs. Colorado Rockies Prediction
1u - Kyle Freeland Over 5.5 Hits Allowed (-125) (Bet $125 to win $100)
*Odds Available at DraftKings*
Kyle Freeland is a fun guy to fade. Even when he’s not playing at Coors he loves to give up plenty of hits. This number of 5.5 feels soft for the matchup and the recent hit rate. Freeland has allowed 6+ hits on 9 of his last 10 games. So we’re getting a bet with a recent 90% hit rate against a team that absolutely mashes left-handed pitching. St Louis bats .266 against southpaws and in his last start he played this same Cardinals team. Freeland allowed 10 hits in that game, we need him to only allow 6, not asking for a lot.
The concern here is that he gets pulled early, the Rockies have a decently rested bullpen and it’s always an option but that could have been said about any of the other games he still went late into. I see on sites like PrizePicks the pitches thrown prop and his is 97.5. If that’s the case we just need a hit allowed every 16-17 pitches, incredibly doable. Freelands earned run prop is 3.5 and every time he allowed 3-4 runs he has hit this prop except for his first start of the season against the Dodgers. With a short spring training, he got pulled sooner than he would have in a game like today.
Kyle Freeland is a thrower of meatballs and Goldschmidt and the boys will be sure to make him pay if he doesn’t bring his best stuff today. I will always take a bet with this good of a hit rate against a team that hits lefties as well as St Louis. Not going to overthink this one, this is a prop that should be either heavily juiced at 5.5 or + odds at 6.5. My top pivot for my DK or Bovada people would be the Cardinals over 2.5 runs in the first 5 innings. I see Freeland allowing 3 or 4 and Cards getting 6-7 hits along the way. Let's do this!
