Miami Marlins vs San Diego Padres Prediction

The Marlins have won the first two games of this series and will look to pull off a surprising sweep this afternoon. The Marlins have not had a great series, but they have looked very good here in the last couple of days. They pulled off a 4-3 win yesterday behind a solid offensive day.

The Padres have been up and down as of late and have looked a bit sluggish in this series. This is a top-notch lineup in baseball, but they have been shut down the last two days by Marlin's pitching. The question today is can their offense get going and help them win a much-needed game? The Padres know that the division will be won by the Dodgers but that the wildcard route is very much alive. They have been in the playoffs all season, but their cold run has them hanging onto a playoff spot at the moment. They hold the final spot in the wildcard, just a one-game lead over the Brewers.

Today they will send Mike Clevinger to the mound to try and lead them to a much-needed victory. Clevinger made headlines last week when he called out Fernando Tatis Jr for being immature after his steroid use. He has been very good for the Padres this season. He will be opposed by Pablo Lopez, who has been up and down all season for the Marlins. 

I know they let us down yesterday, but the Padres should bounce back and avoid the sweep today. Listen, this is one of the best teams in baseball, and today, they are playing to avoid a sweep and try and hold onto a playoff spot. If they are not motivated and locked in today, I do not know when they will be.

Lopez has regressed after a great start to the season, and the Padres should finally get their bats going today. I have backed Clevinger a good amount this season, and he has been good to me.
