San Francisco Giants vs Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction, Picks, Odds: Can Carlos Rodon, Giants Make Playoff Push?
The San Francisco Giants didn't sell most of their players at the trade deadline. It might've been the smart move. The Giants have won five straight and eight of their last 10 games after defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks last night 2-1. San Francisco is now just 4.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot and we've got plenty of games to play. The Giants will look to earn another win against Arizona tonight with their star pitcher, who they could've traded at the deadline. Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Wednesday's game between the San Francisco Giants vs Arizona Diamondbacks.

San Francisco Giants vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction
The San Francisco Giants have won five straight games and will now turn to their ace pitcher for tonight's game. Carlos Rodon, the left-handed pitcher will get the call. He has an 11-5 record with a 2.95 ERA on the season. In the last 30 days, Rodon has had a 3.79 xFIP with high strikeouts and low walks. He won't induce a high volume of ground balls, but he's limited runners getting on base from both sides of the plate regardless. The only blemish in the last 30 days has been his extra-base hits allowed to lefties. But the Diamondbacks only have one lefty in the lineup that has a high potential of hitting an extra-base hit. Sure, Arizona has been a sneaky offense throughout the season against lefties. However, Rodon won’t be easy to tag for multiple runs. The one lefty that can hit for power is Josh Rojas, who has a .333 ISO in his last 30 days against lefties. Other than that, the rest of the lineup is mainly right-handed and Rodon has pitched better to righties recently.

On the other hand, Zach Davies will get the call for Arizona. He is 2-4 with a 4.11 ERA on the season. However, he's been worse than his ERA has indicated. Davies currently has a 5.62 xFIP in the last 30 days with the same amount of walks as strikeouts. He's walked 11.8% of batters faced and has struck out 11.8% of batters faced. Offensively, the Giants are much better when they’re not striking out. Like most teams in baseball. When you put the ball in play, good things happen. Davies' stuff won’t fool this Giants lineup. Against righties in the last 30 days, San Francisco is only hitting 33.5% of ground balls. When the Giants put the ball in play, we’re going to see line drives and fly balls that can get out of the yard. The Giants have been so inconsistent offensively, but I like them to get to Davies, who has been consistently bad throughout his last couple of seasons. I'm on the Giants -1.5 for tonight's game.
