Texas Rangers vs Oakland Athletics Prediction

The A's won last night's game, led by a great offensive outing. They plated seven runs which is rare for this team as they are one of the worst offenses in all of baseball. Yesterday the team released Elvis Andrus and Steven Piscotty. After releasing them, their highest-paid player is making a whopping two million dollars per year. This is how Oakland feels they need to do stuff in their money-ball mindset. This is a team that was extremely competitive over the last five years but started blowing up their team in the off-season. Their current roster is likely the worst in all of baseball.

The Rangers have had a tough year of their own after making a splash in the off-season by signing all-stars, Marcus Semien and Corey Seager. Seager has lived up to the hype turning in an all-star season, but Semien has not been able to find his flow this year. The biggest issue for Texas coming into the year was going to be pitching, and it has been their biggest issue all season long.

Today they hand the ball to Dane Dunning, who will look for his third win of the season. Opposing Dunning will be southpaw Zach Louge. 

I am backing the Rangers on the -1 line this afternoon. They should be able to roll against this A's team today, especially after a loss last night. I believe we end up seeing a series split here between these two teams. Oakland simply does not have the firepower offensively to keep up. Dunning is better than his numbers show, and he is the much better arm in this matchup today. I expect Texas to come out and put up some early runs and cruise behind a strong outing by Dane Dunning.
