Chicago Cubs vs Milwaukee Brewers Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Keegan Thompson Rack Up the Strikeouts?
Baseball is slow going. Everyone knows that. The season seems to drag on like no other in sports. That's not to say it's all bad, I'm just saying it's a sport that you can pick your spots. One of the best possible spots you can get is a Chicago Cubs vs Milwaukee Brewers game on a Friday afternoon. We've all been there. You've just completed another week of work, it's Friday and you just want to gamble. But on Fridays, there are almost never any day games so we have to wait until the evening before a bunch of baseball players can determine our financial future. It sucks. It doesn't work for anyone. Usually, by the time the games start we're already half in the bag from the after-work drinks. Well, not today people. Today we start living at 2:20 pm ET and we do it with the closest thing I know to The Brad Keller Experience. It's not exactly the same but it's close. After an inning or two of watching this guy, you'll know exactly why this life chose you. Today is going to be glorious.

Chicago Cubs vs Milwaukee Brewers Pick
Keegan Thompson 5+ Strikeouts (+142) (Bet $100 to win $142)
*Odds available at FanDuel at time of publishing*
This one is at FanDuel and I apologize if you can't play there. Why? Because if you can't play there, you'll have to go Over 3.5 (-150) at Barstool. That's a lot of juice for a Friday afternoon but sometimes you have to just lay down the cash. It's not your fault. Your hands are tied. It's definitely better than the 3.5 (-165) DraftKings is showing so there is that. Still, those are the only three books I see with numbers on this guy so at least they're letting us bet. That's all we're really trying to do here.
Chicago Cubs vs Milwaukee Brewers Prediction
Keegan Thompson is my guy and I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. Sure he embarrassed himself in his last start against a team full of whiffers but I'm sure there's a perfectly good explanation for that. The guy was probably just tired or maybe the Reds hitters sent him a bad pizza the night before. Who really knows? All I do know is he's got 88 strikeouts in 100.2 innings pitched this season which makes him an under the book's radar guy. That's only half the battle though because we need our under-the-radar guys to also be capable of spikes. This kid is definitely capable.
Thompson showed the world what time it was in three straight starts back in June. Our guy went nine, seven, and eight against Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati. In July he had a start against the Los Angeles Dodgers where he sat down eight and another against the Pittsburgh Pirates where he got seven. Sure he only fanned two last time out against the bottom-feeder Cincinnati Reds, but if you watched that game, he probably threw 30 two-strike pitches. He just couldn't put anyone away. It was probably the bad pizza from the night before.
Today the Cubs will welcome the Milwaukee Brewers to Chicago. Not trying to be negative here but the Brewers have been striking out a lot lately. We're talking 131 times in their last 421 at-bats. That's bad. They struck out 14 times yesterday and 10 times the day before. Looking through their lineup, they've got three guys that could be playing today that are all 40+% strikeout guys over the last 15 days. Not for nothing, this could be the greatest gambling Friday of all time. All we have to do is bet Keegan Thompson 5+ Strikeouts. Feels pretty easy.
