Baltimore Orioles vs. Boston Red Sox Prediction

Dean Kremer will get the start for Baltimore tonight. He's currently 5-4 with a 3.58 ERA on the season. However, in the last 30 days, Kremer has had a 4.49 xFIP with only 19.5% of strikeouts. Still, he's been able to limit walks to just 3.4%. He's pitched very well against lefties, even as a right-handed pitcher. However, righties are hitting a .387 wOBA and ISO of .254 against him in his last 71 plate appearances. In the Boston lineup, there will likely be six righties in the lineup. However, only Bobby Dalbec has hit consistently for power against righties. Boston is currently hitting a .130 ISO along with a wOBA of .296 against righties in the last 30 days. However, Boston is also hitting 24.3% of line drives against righties despite striking out 24.4% of the time. If Kremer can't get a high amount of strikeouts and Boston puts the ball in play, there's a good chance that the Red Sox are able to score some runs with hard-hit line drives.

On the flip side, Nick Pivetta will get the start for Boston. He's 9-9 with a 4.28 ERA and has been kind of up-and-down throughout the season. Pivetta has had a 4.75 xFIP in the last 30 days while walking 8.9% of batters. However, he's getting a high amount of grounders and is limiting line drives to under 20% which is also very good. He's a righty that has struggled more against lefties in the last 30 days. Lefties have a .361 wOBA with an ISO of .173 in their last 61 plate appearances against him. Baltimore figures to have six lefties in their lineup to go up against Pivetta. The lefties in the lineup have combined to hit a .187 ISO and wOBA of .371 against righties in the last 30 days. There's potential with this lineup against Pivetta as well. To recap, Kremer struggles against righties and the Red Sox should have six righties in their lineup. On the other hand, Pivetta struggles against lefties and the Orioles should have six lefties in their lineup. Therefore, I'm riding the over in Williamsport. The kids want to see runs!
