Oakland Athletics vs. New York Yankees Prediction
It'll be James Kaprielian on the mound for the Athletics tonight. Kaprielian is 3-7 with a 4.29 ERA this year, however, he's been worse analytically in the last month.
In the last 30 days, the righty has a 6.02 xFIP with just 18.6% of strikeouts and 9.3% of walks. He's also not getting a high amount of grounders and is struggling badly against right-handed hitting, giving up a .399 wOBA and ISO of .302 to his last 53 right-handed batters faced.
The Yankees don't have many consistent bats in the lineup. But there's one right-handed batter that should be able to carry the Yankees.
It's Aaron Judge. He's hitting a .355 ISO with a wOBA of .452 against righties in his last 100 plate appearances. He's got a great matchup against Kaprielian. New York doesn't have any other righty that's hitting for a high ISO or high wOBA, but with how bad Kaprielian has been, the Yankees could have success offensively beyond just Judge.

Although it's not confirmed just yet, it looks like Jameson Taillon will get the start for the Yankees. He's been hot-and-cold this season but ultimately has a 4.21 xFIP in the last 30 days, which isn't entirely bad.
Taillon has struck out 24.4% of batters in the last 30 days as well and is getting nearly 50% of grounders while limiting line drives to 12.3%. Still, lefties are hitting an ISO of .245 while righties are hitting an ISO of .196 in the last 30 days. Taillon is giving up extra-base hits more than the league average right now.
However, only Seth Brown and Shea Langeliers are hitting inflated numbers against righties in the Oakland lineup. At the end of the day, when you look at both lineups, there are only three batters that have consistently hit their opposition with great numbers. Judge, Brown, and Langeliers could hit home runs and this game could still go under the total. I'll take the under. Don't forget, this game is being played in Oakland, which is a pitcher-friendly ballpark after all.
