Seattle Mariners vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction

The Cleveland Guardians battle the Seattle Mariners taking place on Thursday afternoon for game one of this American League affair. These are two teams that appear they will be playoff teams when October comes around.

The Mariners had a sluggish start to their season, but over the last couple of months, they have been one of the best teams in baseball. This is a well-balanced lineup that has got great pitching as of late and timely hitting. The Mariners currently hold the longest drought in baseball when it comes to missing the playoffs. They were so close last season but could not win the final game of the year. It appears they would need an epic collapse to not break the curse this year. This Mariners team was aggressive at the deadline adding starter Luis Castillo and veteran bat Carlos Santana. They have proved that they are all in on making a playoff run.

Cleveland might be the most surprising team in baseball this year. They have one of the lowest payrolls in baseball but sit in great shape for the playoffs as we enter September. This is a team that has one star in Jose Ramirez and then a bunch of average players. They have continued to play great baseball in the second half, and if they can have a strong next six weeks will be a playoff team. 

I will be backing the under today. Triston McKenzie gets the ball for Cleveland, and he has turned into one of the best arms in the AL this year. He has always had great stuff but has finally pieced it all together. The Mariners will send Marco Gonzales to the bump, who usually will give you six innings and allow three runs. I expect a strong outing from him today and some regression for this Cleveland lineup after a game yesterday and an early one today after the travel. These are two average offenses with good arms on the mound today. I will trust that the arms get it done, and we cash in!
