Minnesota Twins vs. San Francisco Giants Prediction
Despite the Giants great record last year, they did not win a playoff series as their arch-rivals, the LA Dodgers, knocked them out in the first round. It was obvious it would be tough to replay that this season and they come into this game sitting one game under the .500 mark. Barring a miracle, the Giants will not be a postseason team. They just have not gotten the same production from the guys who stepped up last year, both hitting and pitching-wise. They are what their record says that they are an average team.
The Minnesota Twins come into this game as the coldest team in baseball, losing six in a row. The Twins were division leaders at the all-star break, but their cold run as of late has them sitting four games out of the lead in the Central. There is still a month and some change in the season, so the Twins have a chance to heat up and make the postseason, but it is looking like a long shot if they can not turn things around. Tonight they send Joe Ryan to the bump, who has struggled as of late. He will be opposed by southpaw Alex Wood.
I am backing the Twins on the money line today. The Twins are being severely undervalued here because of their cold run. I understand people do not love to back teams who have lost six games in a row, but sometimes that means they are due.
They just played the Astros, who may be the best team in baseball, and now they get a much weaker Giants team at home. This should be the perfect get-me-right spot for the Twins tonight. Ryan is a guy who is much better than his numbers indicate and should be able to limit this Giants lineup tonight. Minnesota still has one of the best offenses in baseball in my mind and will put up runs against Wood and the Giants tonight. Let’s cash in!
