Texas Rangers vs. Detroit Tigers Odds, Pick, and Predictions: Can Glen Otto Quiet Tigers Bats?
The Rangers will host the Tigers in a three-game series starting tonight at 8:05 EST from Globe Life Field. The Rangers enter this game with some momentum, going 6-4 over their last ten games and 4-1 over their past five. The Tigers are 5-5 over their past ten games, although they did split a two-game series against the Giants with a win yesterday. It's safe to say the Tiger's season is over, as it would be nearly impossible for them to make the Playoffs at this point. The Rangers, however, have a chance at a wild card spot, but they would need to play great baseball in September to secure it. So what's the best play in this matchup tonight? Let's see in my prediction, picks, and odds for tonight's game.

Texas Rangers vs. Detroit Tigers Prediction
The Rangers have been playing great baseball against the AL Central all season. Their 16-11 record against the division is their best over any other division. They are Below .500 against the rest of the AL, and tonight they face the worst the AL Central has to offer, the 48-77 Tigers. Speaking of notable splits, the Rangers have played better against lefty pitching all season, as they are just 36-50 against righties, but 21-17 against lefties. Tonight, they face lefty Tyler Alexander.
Tyler Alexander has floated between the bullpen and starting role, but his numbers are not good when he is starting. He is allowing a .282 batting average and .791 OPS in the starting role, compared to a .237 batting average and .565 OPS from the bullpen. His road ERA is 6.06 when he starts, and he is 1-4 on the road in nine games. As a result, the team is not successful when he starts. The Tigers are 1-8 in games started by Alexander and 0-4 on the road.
The Rangers Glenn Otto may not appear like an upgrade off the bat (pun intended), but he is more trustworthy in this spot. Otto is 5-8 on the season with a 4.66 ERA, but he has turned a page in August. Otto is 1-1 in August with a 1.99 ERA in four starts, and the Rangers are 3-1 in games started by Otto in August. The team as a whole has followed, as the Ranger's .259 batting average in August is the highest of any month in the season so far. Otto has looked excellent recently while going up against some tough teams in the White Sox, Astros, and Twins. He has yet to allow over two runs in any start this month and is on a roll. I like him to take care of one of the worst offenses in baseball. The Tigers are dead last in team OPS overall and against right-handed pitching. The Tigers really only have success against lefties.
The two teams are on entirely different pages right now, and the Rangers have excellent momentum entering this series. Glenn Otto is no ace, but he has looked serviceable over the past month and is a major upgrade over Tyler Alexander. The Tigers have yet to win a road game behind Alexander and are one of the worst teams on the road, to begin with. Take the Rangers to win handily in game one of this series.
