Arizona Diamondbacks vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction

The D-Backs are fresh off a sweep over the Chicago White Sox, and they will look to carry some momentum into this series. Arizona will not be a playoff team, but they are getting closer to the .500 mark on the year. The best thing the D-Backs can do now is play spoiler, and that is exactly what they will look to do vs. Philly tonight.

The Phillies have been one of the best teams in baseball since the all-star break and have played tremendous baseball under intern skipper Rob Thompson. Thompson has changed the culture in the Phillies clubhouse, and they now sit in a great spot to make the playoffs. They are a team that nobody will want to run into come the postseason due to the offense that the Phillies have. When healthy, this is one of the best lineups in baseball, and their pitching has really stepped up this year, especially out of the bullpen.

Tonight they will send southpaw Ranger Suarez to the mound, who has been rock solid as of late. Opposing Suarez will be fellow southpaw Madison Bumgarner, who comes into this game with a record of 6-13 and an era of 4.53. 

I am backing the Phillies on the -1 line to tonight. They are the visiting team, so they will get all nine abs, and I trust that their offense will get hot tonight. They are fresh off a sluggish performance against the Pirates, and they should have their way vs. Bumgarner in this spot.

Bryce Harper recently returned to the lineup, which makes them one of the deepest lineups in all of baseball. The D-Backs have a weak pen as well, so I see them being able to add on runs as the game goes. Arizona should regress here after the weekend sweep. Let’s take advantage and ash in.
