Los Angeles Angels vs. New York Yankees Prediction
The New York Yankees haven't been all that good at the dish this season. Without Aaron Judge, I have no idea where this offense would be. However, to be fair, the Yankees have hit lefties in the last 30 days. Tonight, they'll face Jose Suarez, who is a lefty, with average stuff. Suarez has a 4.19 ERA on the season and a 4.15 xFIP in the last 30 days. He's consistently average. The lefty has kept extra-base hits down and doesn't walk many batters, but the Yankees are still hitting a .206 ISO and wOBA of .397 against lefties in the last 30 days. The Yankees are led by Aaron Judge, who is hitting a .722 ISO with a wOBA of .652 against lefties. But also Josh Donaldson, Andrew Benintendi, Jose Trevino, and Oswaldo Cabrera have all chipped in against lefties with a high wOBA. The Yankees have struck out just 15.1% of the time against lefties in the last 30 days with their projected lineup and have walked nearly 13% of the time with that lineup. If New York is going to break out offensively, this is the game they'll have to do it.

On the other hand, Frankie Montas will get the call for the Yankees. Montas is 4-10 with a 3.84 ERA and hasn't been that special addition that the Yankees hoped he would be. In the last 30 days, Montas has had a 4.87 xFIP with just 15.2% of strikeouts. He's also allowing 25.5% of line drives in the last 30 days. Meanwhile, the Angels' projected lineup is hitting 25.5% of line drives against righties in the last 30 days. If Montas isn't going to get strikeouts and instead, is going to allow balls in play, he's inevitably going to give up multiple line drives. Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani have been hit against righties in the last week and should end up having success against Montas tonight. Therefore, both offenses could get going in tonight's game. I'm on the Over 8 at -110. If both teams score eight runs combined, the bet will be a push. But if we get nine, we'll end up winning this bet. A 4-4 tie is what we're looking for.
