Toronto Blue Jays vs Chicago Cubs Prediction

The Blue Jays come into this series riding a three-game losing streak after being swept by the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels have not swept many teams this year, and this could not have come at a worse time for the Jays. They now hold onto the final wildcard spot in the AL, but they are just 1.5 games ahead of the Baltimore Orioles. This is a massive game for them to get back on track tonight at home.

The Cubs have had a tough year and will be planning early vacations this year. This is a team that is in a rebuilding phase, and they should be happy about some of the young pieces that they have. They will simply look to play spoiler the rest of the campaign. Tonight they will send twenty-five-year-old Javier Assad to the mound. Assad has just pitched in one game this season, going four scoreless innings. This is a young arm that the Cubs are very excited about, and he will be tested against this high-powered Toronto lineup tonight.

The Jays will send Jose Berrios to the mound to try and stop the bleeding. Berrios has not had a great year with an era of 5.28 and a record of 9-5. 

I will be backing the Jays on the -1 line tonight. Even though we have to pay some juice here, it is well worth it. I expect the Jays to roll in this spot tonight. They just got swept by the Angels, and this feels like the perfect get-me-right spot.

Berrios is much better than his numbers indicate, and he should be able to limit this Cubs lineup tonight. I expect a big night from the Jay's offense against the young Cubs righty, which should lead them to a victory tonight. This is a must-win game for Toronto, and they will come thru for us.
