San Francisco Giants vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction

The Giants won games one and two of the series and will look to close out with a sweep this afternoon. It has been a tough season for the Giants, coming off their best year in franchise history. The Giants have not been able to sustain the same success as a year ago, and now the best thing that they can do is play spoiler until the season is over. The Giants have no chance of being a playoff team at this point.

The Phillies, on the flip side, are right in the thick of things holding onto the final wildcard spot. They hold a 2.5-game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers, and they hold the tiebreaker over the Brewers, which really makes their lead 3.5. Today the Phillies will have to get past one of the best southpaws in the game in the form of Carlos Rodon. Rodon has been above average all year for the Giants and will look to shut down this high-powered Philly offense.

The Phillies will oppose Rodon with a southpaw of their own in the form of Ranger Suarez. Suarez has had an up-and-down year for the Phillies. 

I am backings a Phillies bounce back today. This line is off, and getting the better team who is desperate for a win is a no-brainer in my opinion. The Phillies' offense is more than due for a breakout, and I trust that they can get to Rodon for a few early runs. Ranger Suarez is throwing much better as of late and should be able to take care of this Giants lineup. The Phillies will salvage the series this afternoon.
