Tampa Bay Rays vs New York Yankees Prediction

The Yankees held a massive lead in the division for the majority of the year but the league has been minimized to just five games with about a month of baseball remaining. This is shocking to most as it appeared the Yankees would have a cakewalk into the playoffs. It has been anything but a cakewalk in the second half of the season. The offense for New York has struggled to get going, and the pitching has not been nearly as sharp as it was early in the year. It also could be the Joey Gallo curse. Whatever the issue is New York is in desperate need of fighting it out fast to avoid a historic meltdown.

Tampa is hot as of late, winning five games in a row, and they went from trying to sneak into a wildcard spot to trying to pull off the AL East. This is not a great roster on paper, but they find ways to win. Their pitching has been rock solid as of late, which has been the x-factor in them winning a lot of ball games. Today the Yankees will send Frankie Montas to the bump. Opposing Montas will be right-hander Shawn Armstrong. 

I am backing the Yankees today, and I am well aware a lot of people will not love this bet but trust me here. The Yankees hold a nice advantage on the mound today with Montas, who I expect to be sharp this afternoon. Montas was acquired by the Yankees for games like this. When they need a big game, he has to be the guy and should be able to limit a limited Rays lineup today. It will be a bullpen game for Tampa, and I think the Yankees will have a lot of favorable matchups this afternoon. They are more than due and should be able to salvage the series today.
