The Rockies host the Giants for the start of a four-game series tonight. Can Chad Kuhl shut down the Giants' lineup? John Hyslop answers.
ANALYSIS

Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants Prediction, Pick, and Odds: Can Chad Kuhl Shut Down the Giants?

Life is about perseverance. People will list all kinds of things ahead of perseverance but at the end of the day, none of them matter if you can't get through stuff. For example, I was woken up at 6:10 am ET this morning by a 13-year-old with a comb legit stuck in her hair. Dead serious. It was stuck in her hair. After about 30 minutes of trying to figure out what was happening, I had to cut the damn thing out with wire cutters. (Not a hero just doing my job.) Now many people would have gone back to bed after that but not me. Not by a long shot. I jumped on the computer and started looking for bangers immediately. Like a boss. If I'm going to be awake, I'm going to be gambling. It's that simple. That's perseverance people. That's all it is. Lucky for us, in a few short minutes of picking through lines at FanDuel, I found something amazing. It's literally the greatest bet I've ever seen in my life.

Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants Pick

Chad Kuhl 5+ Strikeouts (+148) (Bet $100 to win $148)

*Odds available at FanDuel at time of publishing*

We're at FanDuel here because DraftKings has 3.5 (-165) on this guy. Honestly, I think he gets that but I'm not laying -165 on a guy at Coors Field. It's just not how I roll. Still, I think we can just forget the whole 3.5 things anyway and get a little loose. FanDuel has 5+ (+148), 6+ (+340) and 7+ (+800). All of those numbers are in play. It just depends on how loose you want to get tonight. Hell, 8+ is +1500. He got that in his first start against the San Francisco Giants this season. Why not tonight?

Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants Prediction

I'm not the biggest Chad Kuhl guy but I'm also not, not a Chad Kuhl guy. He's not in the Circle of Trust but we have won some coin on his this season. He's kind of in "prove it" territory right now. I will say this if he fans 8+ tonight, he's in the Circle of Trust. I'm a fair man and if this guy gets through a +1500 hoop, who am I to keep him out of the Circle of Trust? That's literally how you get in the thing.

Why am I optimistic about Kuhl tonight? The short answer is, I don't know. That's why we should go with the long answer. First off, he's hit this number in all three starts in September. One of those starts was at Coors Field which is nice. I wish he was allowed to throw more pitches but at the end of the day, it only took him 83 to get through 26 batters in his last start. People pay good money for that type of efficiency. I feel like he just needs the right opponent to do damage.

Tonight Kuhl is getting the rightest opponent in MLB right now in the San Francisco Giants. These guys have struck out more than any other team in MLB over the last 15 days. We're talking 167 whiffs in their last 486 at-bats. What the hell is that all about? They've got the second lowest OPS in MLB in that span too so even if they make contact they may not score runs. Looking at their lineup, there are literally 12 guys that all have fanned in 25+% of their at-bats in the last 15 days that could be in the lineup tonight. This feels like a great bet. Maybe even the greatest.
