The Los Angeles Angels take on the Oakland Athletics tonight. Can the Angels earn a win to start this series? Can their bats get hot? Jason Radowitz answers.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Oakland Athletics Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Mike Trout, Angels' Bats Get Hot?

The Los Angeles Angels had big aspirations this season. Unfortunately, the Angels will finish with a losing record this season and miss the playoffs again. It's hard to lose with Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani in your lineup. But the Angels make it look easy. Granted, Trout had been injured throughout the season. But ultimately, the Angels should perform much better than they have. Tonight, Los Angeles will play a new home series against the Oakland Athletics. The A's have been even worse than the Angels. Oakland will finish the season with over 100 losses. Can the Angels earn a win to start this series against the Athletics? Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Tuesday's game between the Los Angeles Angels vs. Oakland Athletics.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Oakland Athletics Prediction

The Big 3 for the Angels is hot right now. Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, and Taylor Ward are hitting in the 2-3-4 spots for the Angels tonight. They've all hit righties with a lot of power and are getting on base at a high rate. They'll face James Kaprielian, who is 4-9 with a 4.43 ERA on the season. In the last 30 days, the right-hander has had a 5.13 xFIP with just 17.6% of strikeouts. He's holding a .241 BABIP but has induced under 42% of ground balls while allowing over 8% of walks. Kaprielian has also given up 41.8% of hard contact in the last 30 days. Meanwhile, the Angels are hitting a .174 ISO and wOBA of .314 against righties over the last 30 days. Los Angeles has struck out 26.7% of the time with their projected lineup in that same time frame. However, Kaprielian isn't a high strikeout pitcher, so if the Angels can limit strikeouts and put the ball in play, things will play out in their favor.

Meanwhile, Pablo Sandoval will get the call for the Angels. He's a lefty with a 6-9 record and a 3.01 ERA. Sandoval has a 3.88 xFIP in the last 30 days and has struck out 23.6% of batters in that time frame. He's also induced over 52% of ground balls and has limited fly balls to below 25%. He'll take on an Athletics lineup with a .118 ISO and wOBA of .258 against lefties. Oakland has also struck out 25.1% of the time against lefties in the last month and has hit just 28.2% of fly balls in that same time frame. At home, I like the Angels to find some offensive success and believe Sandoval can shut down the Athletics throughout the game. Let's take Los Angeles on the run line at home.
