Washington Nationals vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can the Braves Bats Get To Paolo Espino?
Last night, the Atlanta Braves picked up an 8-0 victory against none other than the Washington Nationals. The Braves are 13-4 against the Nationals this season and 7-1 when playing in Washington. As the regular season nears its end, the Nats have nothing to play for, but the Braves do. While Atlanta has already clinched a spot in the postseason, they still find themselves battling it out with the New York Mets for the NL East title.

Washington Nationals vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction
Paolo Espino is making the start for the Nationals. Espino is 0-7 and has a 4.17 ERA on the season. He has a 4.96 ERA and 1.52 WHIP against the Braves, in which the Nats went 1-3. Last week in Atlanta was Espino’s best outing against them, giving up one earned and one unearned run over four innings and allowing the Nats to pick up one of their four wins versus the Braves this season. Still, I don’t expect him to maintain his success in back-to-back starts.
My first thought would be to back the Braves on the run line, but I’m not sure I have much confidence in Kyle Muller. Tonight will only be his third start of the season, and in the first two he gave up a combined nine earned runs over just 7.2 innings. Although the Braves sit only one game behind the Mets for the NL East, so every game is of the utmost importance. Therefore, we can expect the Braves offense to come into this game knowing they’ll need to back up Muller.
Atlanta ranks third in most runs per game, and they’ve scored more than five runs in three straight. Meanwhile, the Nats allow their opponents to score an average of 5.22 runs per game, the second worst in the league. Rather than risk the sweat of Atlanta having to win by two or more, I’ll play to their strengths and take the Braves Team Total over 5 (-120) at Caesars Sportsbook.
