Mets vs. Padres Prediction

The San Diego Padres and the New York Mets will clash from the city that never sleeps on Friday to kick off the first round of the MLB postseason. A lot of people did not think that the Mets would be playing in a first-round game a few weeks ago, but now here we are. The Mets were not able to close out the Atlanta Braves when the two teams played last weekend, and now they will have to get past the San Diego Padres if they want to continue their hopes of winning a world championship.

These are two teams with high expectations. The Mets entered the year looked on as one of the top teams in baseball, and a lot of that Is due to the fact that they have two of the best arms in the game in the same rotation. Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer will be the two arms that the Padres have to get past and that will be no easy task. These have been two of the best arms in baseball over the last few seasons. San Diego will send their ace to the mound in the form of Yu Darvish. Darvish has been great for the Padres, and the Mets are well aware that this will be no easy task in game one.

I will be backing the Mets in game one of this series. I understand some people are skeptical of the Mets due to how their season ended, but I trust that they come out strong here on Friday night. Scherzer is one of the best arms in baseball, and I believe he will go out and do his job against this San Diego lineup that can really struggle to produce runs at times. Darvish is an outstanding arm, but I believe the Mets can grind out at-bats and get his pitch count up, forcing him out of the game. New York is the better team with the better arm, and I think we are getting an extremely generous line with Max Scherzer on the mound. As a Philly fan, it pains me to say this but Let’s Go Mets!
