Houston Astros vs. Philadelphia Phillies World Series Game 2 Prediction, Picks, Odds
Last night, I predicted that the Astros would earn the first game of the World Series. After three innings, the Astros led 5-0 against the Phillies. Things were looking good.
The Phillies then rallied back and scored five runs in the fourth and fifth innings to tie the game. Eventually, J.T. Realmuto hit a game-winning blast in the 10th inning, and the Phillies stole Game 1 from the Astros.
This is going to be quite the series.
The Phillies now have home-field advantage and will have a legitimate chance to win the World Series on their home field. Will the Phillies earn another win in Game 2 tonight? Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Saturday's game between the Philadelphia Phillies vs. Houston Astros.

Houston Astros vs. Philadelphia Phillies World Series Game 2 Prediction
It's Game 2 of the World Series. But it already feels like a must-win game for the Houston Astros. The Astros are in danger of falling to 0-2 in the World Series. If that scenario played out, they'd have to win two games of three on the road in Philadelphia.
Framber Valdez will get the call for the Astros. The left-hander has a 1.42 ERA in the postseason and a 2.34 xFIP over the last 30 days. Valdez has struck out 28.1% of batters but has walked 7.3% of batters over the last 30 days. He's induced 66.7% of ground balls and has limited line drives to 16.7% over the same time frame.
Valdez hasn't given up many extra-base hits over the last 30 days and has also kept his wOBA down.
Meanwhile, the Phillies have hit a .130 ISO and wOBA of .345 over the same time frame against lefties. Kyle Schwarber, Rhys Hoskins, and J.T. Realmuto are the three bats that have had low wOBA against lefties over the last 30 days. Ironically, those three batters are the top three batters in the lineup.
Still, the Phillies have hit 26% of line drives and have limited ground balls to 37.5% against lefties over the last 30 days.
On the flip side, Zack Wheeler will get the call for the Phillies. He's holding a 1.78 ERA in the postseason and has an xFIP of 1.85 over the last 30 days. Wheeler has struck out close to 30% of batters in the previous 30 days. He's kept walks down to 2.8% and has allowed a BABIP of .159. Wheeler has allowed 40% of line drives, but the Astros must put the ball in play first. The right-hander has kept his wOBA and ISO numbers very low over the last month for the Phillies.
Houston is hitting a .174 ISO and wOBA of .302 against righties over the last 30 days. The Astros have more power, but that power will likely come with no runners on base. Last night, Kyle Tucker hit a pair of homers with runners on. But the Astros haven't been consistently getting on base against righties. They've also hit just 20.1% of line drives and close to 45% of ground balls.
If Wheeler can limit the long ball, I like the Phillies to win this game. They'll create more chaos on the base paths. They'll earn more walks and put the ball in play. At times, Valdez will earn a double-play with a ground ball. Other times, the ball will find a hole and become a base hit, scoring a run or two.
I've got the Phillies earning another win on the road.
