Iowa vs Wisconsin Prediction

For the first time this season, Wisconsin was fully healthy against the Purdue Boilermakers. It proved to be the difference, with Wisconsin defeating a top-ranked Purdue team, 74-69, on the road. Wisconsin is hard to figure out. This season, the Badgers only lost to Ohio State and Providence and are 11-2 on the year. However, analytically, the offense hasn't been good. Wisconsin is averaging just 70.6 points per game while shooting an effective field goal percentage of 46.5 percent. The Badgers literally shoot just 29.9 percent from three and 47.4 percent from inside the arc. Both of those numbers are below average in college basketball. However, Wisconsin doesn't turn the ball over and it allows them to get more attempts from the field. Limiting turnovers is crucial for teams that struggle to shoot the basketball consistently. The Badgers have played terrific defense and that's mostly why they've been winning games. Against Purdue, Wisconsin held the Boilermakers to 69 points on the road. That's extremely hard to do. The Badgers are 31st in the nation in defensive efficiency via KenPom and are just above average in almost every category defensively. However, Iowa's going to be a challenge defensively for Wisconsin. The Hawkeyes are the third-best team in offensive efficiency and have an effective field goal percentage of 54.7 percent while limiting turnovers to just 12.1 percent. Again, this is a game between the top two teams that limit turnovers the most on the offensive end. However, Iowa shoots 35.4 percent from long range and 55.6 percent from inside the arc. Both teams can also hit at a high percentage from the foul line, but I will say that Iowa has been better defending the three-point line defensively. The rebounding battle is also extremely close and I wouldn't be surprised if both teams finished around the same number when the game concludes. But with how great Iowa has shot the ball, I just don't think Wisconsin can keep up, even at home. If Wisconsin pulls off back-to-back wins over Purdue and Iowa I would be extremely impressed. But I don't think it's happening.
