We are moving right along in the 2022 edition of The Basketball Tournament, as the 64-team March Madness-style bracket has reached the third round in certain regionals within the bracket. While some corners of the bracket are still getting underway, plenty of action has begun, with all games being streamed on ESPN’s family of networks. 

Running just over two weeks in total, the champion will be crowned on August 2nd, with $1 million going to the winning team.

Team Arkansas vs. Gutter Cat Gang Prediction

The Omaha regional will crown a winner tonight, as Team Arkansas takes on Gutter Cat Gang on ESPN2. As the name would imply, Team Arkansas is a team of Arkansas alum is making their second appearance in TBT, picking up their first two wins in their past two games. The team is led by the trio of Jimmy Whitt, Jaylen Barford, and Dusty Hannahs; all three legendary Razorbacks who have so far guided this team in the right direction this week. 

On the other side of this matchup, Gutter Cat Gang has one of the more talented rosters in this tournament, led by EuroLeague star Kyle Hines. They’ve also got one of the best defensive fronts led by shut down guard Will Cherry who leads the tournament in steals at 8.

In this one, I like the big-game experience of the Gutter Cat Gang to shine through, and for them to advance to the quarterfinals with plenty of time to rest.

Team Challenge ALS vs. LA Cheaters Prediction

Team Challenge ALS and LA Cheaters come into tonight following big opening-round wins last night, with the former having the easier time cruising to an 87-71 win over Once A Bronco. Marvelle Harris led all scorers with 28 points and comes into this game ranked No. 2 in the tournament in field goal percentage, shooting 80% in the field on the night.

The LA Cheaters are making the third straight appearance in TBT, and are headlined by two former NBA first-round picks in Derrick Williams and Terrence Jones. They’ve also added former NBA player James Ennis, who is expected to make an impact right away. In game one, former Utah Utes star and current G-League Player Sedrick Barefield was the difference maker, scoring 25 points to propel the Cheaters to a 73-68 win.

In what will be their sixth TBT appearance, I like Team Challenge ALS led by Sean Marshall to get the job done tonight, advancing to the third round for yet another deep run this year. Look for a breakout game from Jerome Randle who averaged 21.7 points per game the last time his TBT made a deep run in 2018, and 22.3 per game in 2019.
