Last time out we nailed 3-of-3 picks but the All-Star break got in our way. Now we're back and ready to go again. Here are tonight's picks.
Current Record - 10-12-1 (win/lose/push) -2.9u
Sam's NBA picks will reguarly giving you picks for the day's hoop action. I recommend backing these individually but you're welcome to parlay them too. Each pick is staked at one unit.
Heat @ 76ers
The 76ers have one of the best home court records in the conference but could be run close by a Heat team that has managed to keep it tight in recent games. The defense is one of the strongest in the league and they've only given up large points to the Thunder, Warriors and Bucks in 2019 so far, which is a pretty strong resume.
Did I mention the best part? Philly will be missing their resident social media expert and center Joel Embiid, this bodes well for the Heat and I see them hanging with the 6ers.
If you rememeber last time out I backed the Trail Blazers to cover the spread against the Warriors, they not only did that but they also got the W. The Warriors are the best team in the league and it's really not close, however they rarely seem to beat down on teams that they are vastly superior to.
The Kings for their part are good scorers, they have the ability to shoot which should keep it closer than the spread, unless the Warriors come out feeling particuarly ruthless.
Rockets @ Lakers
If James Harden is hot and the Rockets are hitting their threes then this will be over quickly. The Rockets offense is a juggernaut when they're on form and you'd think that the Lakers could be ripe for the taking given how poor their defense is.
LeBron alone isn't enough to make the Lakers an efficent team and they're still a season from competing. It feels like the Anthony Davis debacle has left the roster jaded and uncertain of it's future. The Lakers won't be able to stop the Rockets, especially with the returning Clint Capela.
