Daily Picks 11/04: Pelicans Run Into Nets
New Orleans Pelicans @ Brooklyn Nets (-4.5), NBATV, 7:30 PM ET:
The New Orleans Pelicans and Brooklyn Nets will square off at the Barclays Center on Monday night.
Jrue Holiday finished with 16 points, six assists and three rebounds and Lonzo Ball added 10 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the Pelicans in a 115-104 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in their last game.
Jahlil Okafor contributed 15 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and two blocks and JJ Redick had 17 points and three boards off the bench for New Orleans.
The Nets will also look to bounce back after a tough loss in their last game.
Point guard Kyrie Irving finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists and Taurean Prince had 20 points for the Nets in a 113-109 loss to the Detroit Pistons.
Caris LeVert added 14 points and six rebounds and Spence Dinwiddie chipped in 16 points, six assists and three boards off the bench for the Nets.
Brooklyn is 2-4 this season even with Irving scoring 30.5 points per contest.
The Nets beat the New York Knicks 113-109 on Oct. 25 and their second victory was a 123-116 win over the Houston Rockets on Friday night, when the Nets overcame 11 first-quarter turnovers and a 15-point deficit.
The four losses the Nets have this season are by a combined 16 points, so clearly Brooklyn has been competitive in all six games this season despite the losing record.
They obviously just need to do a better job of shutting the door late in the fourth quarter to pull out victories.
Against the Pistons, the Nets held a 66-52 lead with 7:10 to go in the third quarter but they allowed a 26-6 run to end the third and were eventually outscored by almost 20 points the rest of the game.
The Pelicans are 8-2 in their last 10 meetings against the Nets, but it won’t matter in this one.
I believe the Nets will bounce back in a big away after their devastating loss to the Pistons and I think they will come away with this victory at home against an inferior team.
Feel confident taking Brooklyn minus the points in this game. There’s no doubt that the Nets come away with the win.
