In Monday’s marquee matchups, Kemba Walker finished with 29 points, five rebounds and five assists and Jaylen Brown added 25 points and 11 rebounds for the Boston Celtics in a 116-106 win over the Dallas Mavericks.
James Harden led the Houston Rockets with 39 points, nine assists and four rebounds, and Russell Westbrook had 26 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals in a 122-116 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
Take a look at today’s NBA picks:
BET OF THE DAY
Portland Trail Blazers @ Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings have a 4-6-1 record (40.9%) ATS against the Portland Trail Blazers since the 2016-17 NBA season. Stat taken from Statschecker (https://stats.oddschecker.com)
Damian Lillard has been tremendous for the Trail Blazers so far this year. He finished with 30 points, seven rebounds and six assists in a 124-113 win over the Atlanta Hawks in their last game.
Lillard is averaging 33.0 points per game, which ranks second in the NBA. He finished with a career-high 60 points in a 119-115 loss to the Brooklyn Nets last Friday.
The Kings will be without De’Aaron Fox, who sprained his ankle and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks.
The Trail Blazers have won six of the past seven meetings, and I do expect them to make it seven of eight victories.
Roll with Lillard and the Blazers minus the 1.5 points in this matchup.
2u – Trail Blazers (-1.5) @ -110
Cleveland Cavaliers @ Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers rebounded with a win in their last game after suffering three losses in a row.
Joel Embiid had 18 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks for the Sixers in a 114-106 win over the Charlotte Hornets.
Tobias Harris added 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two blocks, and Al Horford had 15 points, seven boards and five assists for the Sixers.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have won two games in a row over the Washington Wizards and New York Knicks.
Collin Sexton finished with a game-high 31 points to go along with two boards and three assists, and Kevin Love had 17 points and eight rebounds for the Cavaliers.
The Cavs are led by Love, who is averaging 18.3 points and 13.4 rebounds per game. He has six double-doubles through the first nine games and Tristan Thompson is averaging career highs in points (16.4) and rebounds (11.3).
I believe the Sixers come away with the win at home, but the Cavs plus the 9.5 points here is the pick.
Take Cleveland in this basketball game.
1u – Cavaliers (+9.5) @ +100
New York Knicks @ Chicago Bulls
The New York Knicks will travel to the United Center to take on the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night.
Julius Randle finished with 20 points and 16 rebounds and Allonzo Trier had 13 points off the bench for the Knicks in a 108-87 loss to the Cavaliers in their last game.
Marcus Morris Sr. and RJ Barrett added nine points apiece and Frank Ntilikina chipped in four points, six rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks for the Knicks.
The Bulls will also look to rebound off a loss.
Wendell Carter Jr. had 13 points and 16 rebounds for Chicago in a 117-94 defeat to the Rockets.
Chandler Hutchison, Lauri Markkanen and Thaddeus Young all contributed 13 points apiece for the Bulls.
The Knicks had their first victory of the season against the Bulls back on Oct. 28 – it was a 105-98 win in favour of New York.
In this game, I expect another close matchup. I like the Knicks plus the points in this contest.
Take New York and the 5.5 points in this game.
1u – Knicks (+5.5) @ -105
