One of our expert hoops handicappers gives his best picks for today's games
ANALYSIS

On Sunday night, Jimmy Butler faces his former team as the Miami Heat host the Chicago Bulls at American Airlines Arena.

Here’s a look at today’s NBA picks:

BET OF THE DAY:

Chicago Bulls @ Miami Heat (-7), 6:00 PM:

  • The Heat have a 14-11 ATS record in night games against the Bulls since 2012-13. Stat courtesy of Statschecker.

Miami (16-6) remain unbeaten at home having taken care of business by defeating the Washington Wizards 112-103 on Saturday when Butler posted a triple-double, scoring a game-high 28 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.

Chicago (8-15) snapped a two-game winning streak after losing at home to the struggling Golden State Warriors 100-98.

Zach LaVine was the catalyst for the Bulls, scoring a team-high 22 points with five turnovers, six rebounds and six assists.

The Heat have been unbeatable at home this season, posting a 9-0 record. Although Chicago has been unpredictable, my prediction is that the Bulls will stumble in Miami. Take the Heat to cover the spread (-7).

2u - Miami Heat (-7) @ -110

Los Angeles Clippers (-5.5) @ Washington Wizards, 6:00 PM:

  • Los Angeles has a 10-7 ATS record against the Wizards since 2011-12.
  • Washington has a 12-8-1 ATS record this season, the eighth best in the NBA. Stat courtesy of Statschecker.

The Los Angeles Clippers (16-7) snapped a two-game winning run as they fell on the road to the Milwaukee Bucks 119-91.

Kawhi Leonard led the charge with a team-high 17 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks.

The Wizards (7-14) fell short of an upset effort in Miami, losing to the Heat 112-103.

Bradley Beal was sharp shooting 7-of-17 from the field for 23 points with eight assists and four rebounds.

Washington has lost six of the last eight games.

The Clippers have struggled on the road this season (3-6), but after a tough loss in Milwaukee, anticipate a big bounce-back effort from Leonard and Paul George.

1u - Los Angeles Clippers (-5.5) @ -110

Sacramento Kings @ Dallas Mavericks (-7.5), 7:00 PM

  • The Kings have a 16-4-1 ATS record against the Mavericks since 2013-14.

The Dallas Mavericks (16-6) won a fifth consecutive game after rolling past the New Orleans Pelicans 130-84.

Luka Doncic maintained his excellent form by posting 26 points, nine assists, and six rebounds.

Behind Doncic, the Mavericks have scored the fourth most points in the NBA with an average 118 ppg.

Sacramento (8-13) nearly pulled off an upset in San Antonio as they lost to the Spurs 105-104 in overtime.

Buddy Hield was off his mark, shooting 10-of-27 from the field for 23 points with seven rebounds.

The Kings have struggled on the road, losing nine of 12 away games this season.

Despite the Mavericks’ strong success against the spread, my expectation is Sacramento will keep this game close enough to cover the spread (+7.5).

1u - Sacramento Kings (+7.5) @ -110
