Daily Picks 12/12: Embiid On His Knees In Boston
In Wednesday’s NBA matchups, LeBron James finished with 25 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, and Anthony Davis added 16 points, 12 rebounds and six assists for the Los Angeles Lakers in a 96-87 win over the Orlando Magic. For the Los Angeles Clippers, Kawhi Leonard had 23 points, five rebounds and six assists in a 112-92 win over the Toronto Raptors.
Here’s a look at today’s NBA picks:
BET OF THE DAY:
Philadelphia 76ers @ Boston Celtics
- Since 2016-17, the Celtics hold a 13-5 record over the Sixers. Stat taken from Statschecker. (Statschecker)
The Sixers and Celtics squared off back on Oct. 23 in the first game of the regular season.
In that matchup, Gordon Hayward finished with 25 points, five rebounds and two assists, and Jayson Tatum added 21 points and 10 rebounds, but Philadelphia came away with the 107-93 win.
Ben Simmons led the Sixers with 24 points, eight rebounds and nine assists, and Joel Embiid contributed 15 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and three blocks for Philadelphia.
The Celtics have been extremely impressive against the spread this season though, posting a 14-7-2 record.
Look for Boston to get revenge against the Sixers in this matchup. Take the Celtics minus the 1.5 points.
2u – Celtics (-1.5) @ -110
Dallas Mavericks @ Detroit Pistons
- Since the 2010-11 NBA season, the Mavericks hold a 10-7 record over the Detroit Pistons according to Statschecker. (Statschecker)
Both teams are on the road for this match as they head south of the border for a meeting in Mexico City.
The Mavericks will look to rebound after a tough loss to the Sacramento Kings. Luka Doncic finished with 27 points, seven rebounds and eight assists for Dallas in a 110-106 loss.
The Pistons, on the other hand, will look to win a third straight game. In their last game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night, Derrick Rose hit a 14-foot jumper with 0.3 seconds left and scored 17 of his team-high 21 points in the fourth quarter to lift the Pistons to a 105-103 victory.
The Mavericks will be a playoff team behind Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis and I believe there is no doubt that the Mavs will come away with the victory over the Pistons in this one.
Take Dallas minus the five points in this matchup.
1u – Mavericks (-5) @ -105
Portland Trail Blazers @ Denver Nuggets
The visiting Trail Blazers came away with a dominating victory over the New York Knicks in their last game.
Damian Lillard finished with a team-high 31 points to go along with six assists for the Blazers in a 115-87 win. Carmelo Anthony added 16 points and four rebounds, and CJ McCollum had 13 points, four rebounds and three assists for the Blazers.
The Nuggets, on the other hand, are surprisingly on a three-game skid. In their last game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Will Barton finished with 26 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, and Nikola Jokic added 15 points, 11 assists and seven boards in a 97-92 loss.
Denver came away with a 108-100 win over the Blazers back on Oct. 23.
I believe the Nuggets will end their losing streak in this game, but the Blazers will cover the six points.
Roll with Portland plus the six points in this game.
