ANALYSIS

Sunday’s NBA games were played amid sombre atmospheres following the tragic death of Kobe Bryant.

Trae Young finished with a game-high 45 points with 14 assists and six rebounds for the Atlanta Hawks in a 152-133 win over the Washington Wizards.

For the Toronto Raptors, Pascal Siakam had 35 points, eight rebounds and three assists, and Kyle Lowry added 16 points, four rebounds and four assists in a 110-106 victory – a seventh straight win - over the San Antonio Spurs.

Here are Today’s NBA Picks:

BET OF THE DAY:

Cleveland Cavaliers @ Detroit Pistons

  • Since the 2016-17 NBA season, the Cleveland Cavaliers have a 16-40-1 against the spread record in night games during January. (Stat courtesy of Statschecker)

The Detroit Pistons will look to rebound after back-to-back losses to the Memphis Grizzlies and the Brooklyn Nets. On Saturday night, Derrick Rose finished with a team-high 27 points to go with six assists and four rebounds for the Pistons in a 121-111 loss to Brooklyn. Andre Drummond added 20 points and 21 rebounds for Detroit.

This will be the fourth and final meeting of the season between the Cavaliers and Pistons. Detroit won two of the previous three meetings, including two victories over the Cavs in Cleveland. Drummond and Rose will look to continue to lead the Pistons.

Take Detroit minus the 6.5 points in this matchup.

2u – Pistons (-6.5) @ -105

San Antonio Spurs @ Chicago Bulls

  • The San Antonio Spurs have a 1-7 against the spread record in night games against the Chicago Bulls since the 2014-15 NBA season. (Stat courtesy of Statschecker)

The Bulls will host the San Antonio Spurs at the United Center looking for a second straight win.

On Saturday night against the Cavaliers, Zach LaVine finished with 44 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, and Tomas Satoransky added 19 points, six boards and six assists in a 118-106 win.

The Spurs will be playing in the second game of a back-to-back after they fell to the Raptors on Sunday afternoon. DeMar DeRozan finished with 14 points, seven assists and six rebounds, and LaMarcus Aldridge added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Spurs in a 110-106 loss.

The Bulls at home plus the two and a half points is the pick here. Roll with Chicago at home.

1u – Bulls (+2.5) @ -105

Sacramento Kings @ Minnesota Timberwolves

  • Since the 2011-12 NBA season, the Sacramento Kings have a 13-17 against the spread record against the Minnesota Timberwolves. (Stat courtesy of Statschecker)

The Minnesota Timberwolves are just dying for a win here at home against the Sacramento Kings.

It has been nine straight losses for the Wolves entering this game. On Saturday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Karl-Anthony Towns had 37 points, eight rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks, and Andrew Wiggins chipped in 22 points for the Wolves in a 113-104 loss.

About a month ago, the Timberwolves had lost 11 straight games before eventually coming away with a win over the Kings. Look for Minnesota to finally rebound at home in this one.

Take the Wolves minus the three points here.

1u – Timberwolves (-3) @ -105
