Sean Highkin is back to break down his Pelicans vs. Warriors prediction

NBA Predictons - Pelicans vs. Warriors Prediction- 14 May 2021

Sean Highkin is back on OddsChecker with picks for three of today's NBA clashes.

Jazz vs. Thunder Prediction

Over the past two nights, the Portland Trail Blazers made the Jazz have to care about this otherwise throwaway game against Oklahoma City. Portland beat Utah and then lost to Phoenix on back-to-back nights, cutting the Jazz’s lead to one game over the Suns for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. If the Blazers had beaten the Suns, Utah would have had the top seed all but locked up and could take it easy going into the final game of the regular season on Sunday. As it is, they’ll have to win one more game to solidify their position. No matter what, they’d be favored against Oklahoma City. If they had locked up the top seed, they could have sat their starters and the spread may have been smaller. Now, they’ll have to play their guys, and that makes it pretty likely they’ll blow out the tanking Thunder. Even at -13.5, it’s a safe bet that the Jazz will take care of business here.

The pick: Jazz -13.5 @ -110 (Click here to bet)

Kings vs. Grizzlies Prediction

The Kings’ season is completely over, while the Grizzlies are still fighting for positioning in the play-in tournament. Right now, they’re tied with Golden State record-wise, although the Warriors are ahead of them for the No. 8 seed due to the tiebreaker. Most of these late-season games have mattered due to the play-in implications, but this one we can expect to be a dud due to the lack of stakes for one of the teams. Expect Memphis to roll against a Kings team that has absolutely nothing left to play for.

The pick: Grizzlies -8.5 @ -110 (Click here to bet)

Pelicans vs. Warriors Prediction

Everything mentioned above for the Memphis-Sacramento game would seem to apply to this game between a Pelicans team that has been eliminated from play-in eligibility and a Warriors squad that still has to solidify its seed within the mini-tournament. So it should be a no-brainer to take the Warriors and the points, right? Maybe not when the Pelicans are only -105 (rather than the standard -110) to cover. This Warriors team, outside of Stephen Curry, doesn’t have a lot in the reliability department. Would it really be a huge shock if New Orleans made them sweat a little bit and kept it close, even if Golden State were to ultimately win? It would be just the kind of chaos this stretch run of the season has been delivering for a couple weeks, a team that should be a runaway favorite making it harder on themselves than they need to. The odds aren’t good enough on the Pelicans’ moneyline to be worth taking a swing on them actually winning the game, but the slightly better-then-normal value on them to cover is a good play.

The pick: Pelicans +5.5 @ -105 (Click here to bet)
