Celtics vs. Nets

The Celtics and Nets are two of the more intriguing teams in the Eastern Conference. The Nets are the No. 2 see and have more talent than just about any roster in the NBA. A bad night from one superstar isn’t going to stop them from winning. As for the Celtics, they really have no business being here when you think about the amount of injuries they’ve sustained throughout the year. But still, here they are ready to take on the Brookyln Nets in the NBA Playoffs.

Boston Celtics

The Celtics needed to win just one game in the NBA Play-In Tournament in order to qualify for the NBA Playoffs, and they did that in their first game by dominating the Washington Wizards. I said in my pre-game picks for that one that the only way the Celtics could beat the Wizards was if Jayson Tatum outscored Washington by himself. And while he didn’t quite do that, he did the next best thing.

Against Washington, Tatum carried the Celtics to a win with a 50-point performance in a 118-100 win. The Celtics also did a good job of shutting down Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal, which helped them get the win.

Now, they face a team led by a former Celtic in Kyrie Irving. The Nets should be healthy, missing just Spencer Dinwiddie who has been out since January. Boston has its work cut out for itself trying to shut down the likes of Kevin Durant, Irving, James Harden and Blake Griffin, among others.

Brooklyn Nets

When healthy, there isn’t a better team in the NBA than the Brooklyn Nets. Unfortunately, they haven’t spent much time without injuries during the 2021 NBA season. However, that looks to be changing this weekend as they should have all their stars ready to go.

Brooklyn has won five straight coming into Saturday and presents matchup problems for every team in the entire NBA, no matter who they’re playing.

Now that they have everyone back, I’m not sure how much you can expect the Celtics, without Jaylen Brown, to hang around with the, It may take 70 from Tatum to see the Nets fall behind early against the Celtics in this one.

Celtics vs. Nets Prediction

I alluded to it earlier, but I just can’t see a way the Celtics can even hang around. Not only are the Nets the better team, they’re playing better basketball and they’re healthier. Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, James Harden and Blake Griffin all came to this team to try and win a championship and that starts on Saturday with Game 1 of this series. I do think Jayson Tatum will score a ton of points. I’d consider taking his point prop as well if it’s 30 or fewer. But Nets -8 is my official play for this one.
