NBA Playoff Picks - Thursday, May 27
Nuggets vs. Blazers Prediction
This Thursday we have three games to enjoy, with picks for the other games available here, from our expert handicapper Jonathan Macri.
Before the postseason started, this figured to be among the most evenly matched first-round series, and so far, it’s living up to the billing. While Denver eventually pulled away in Game 2 after faltering late in Game 1, the Blazers have looked every bit the apt challenger despite being the lower seeded team.
Now the series goes to Portland, where the Blazers were just 10-16 as a home favorite this season. In all likelihood, this game comes down to how well the Nuggets shoot the three. Denver shot 43 percent from behind the arc in Game 2 and won easily; they barely shot 30 percent in Game 1 and couldn’t pull out the home victory.
The good news is that the guys Denver needs to get going started to heat up on Monday night. Michael Porter Jr went 3-for-6 to get back on the train he rode down the stretch of the season after an unusual clunker in the opener. Aaron Gordon, Nikola Jokic, and most importantly the replacement backcourt of Facundo Campazzo and Austin Rivers all made multiple shots from behind the arc.
Will Barton is still out, but with this being more than a one-possession spread, it’s ok to feel good about rolling with the team that was clearly the better of the two all season long.
