Clippers vs. Mavericks Prediction
Easily the game of the playoffs so far, at least in terms of the gravity of what’s at stake.
If Los Angeles wins, they force the series to zig after it has already zagged, re-establishing themselves as favorites in this matchup if not the overall chase for a championship.
If Dallas wins, it all but guarantees that the Clippers’ journey will end in the first round, leading to who knows what upheaval in Los Angeles over an offseason that features Kawhi Leonard being able to enter unrestricted free agency.
In addition, and more importantly for our purposes today, a win would further establish Luka Doncic not only as the best player in this series, but maybe in the entire league.
If he plays, that is. It was revealed late Saturday afternoon that Doncic was listed as questionable with a cervical strain that caused him pain in his neck and left arm after Game 3.
That game, of course, was won by LA despite 44 points on 28 shots from Doncic. That’s because no one else was able to muster more than 14 points for the Mavs, with Kristaps Porzingis going a particularly egregious 3-for-10 from the field.
With Luka hobbled and the Clippers’ stars rounding into form against a Maverick defense that is reverting to early season form, this series is about to be turned on its head.
